Mass Audubon: Workshop and Tour of Pinehills: Planning for Sustainable Development

October 11, 2017 11:30am - 2:00pm

Plymouth, MA

Learn about sustainable development techniques in action and explore the Pinehills, an innovative smart growth community in Plymouth, MA that is not only environmentally friendly, but also economically successful.  Join the Shaping program and featured speakers Scott Horsley (Principal, Horsley Witten Group, Inc) and Tony Green (Managing Partner, The Pinehills) to learn about the site's low impact development (LID) and conservation design. The site features over 2,000 acres of open space surrounding a mixed use, walkable community featuring compact zoning, narrow roads, bioswales, nutrient recycling, and the preservation of America's oldest continuously used road. Cost savings of these techniques, LID best management practices, and bylaw changes to make it all possible will all be discussed. This event will feature a brief presentation on LID and the how the site was created followed by an engaging tour of the site with a running Q&A. AICP CM I 2.0
