How can planning practitioners address issues of political friction, racial strife and economic discrimination in Boston? What preparations are needed across the city to contend with climate change and the uncertainties of a post-pandemic era? Consulting Planners of Massachusetts is excited to host a book panel on Idea City: How to Make Boston More Liveable, Equitable, and Resilient.

This collection of original essays addresses the many challenges Boston contends with in the twenty-first century and considers ways to improve the city for everyone. Panelists include: David Gamble, editor of Idea City; contributing essayists; and Boston-based planning professionals with decades of experience working to build a better city.

    David Gamble, AICP, AIA is a lecturer in urban design at MIT and principal of Gamble Associates, an architecture, urban design and planning practice. He is editor of Idea City and coauthor, with Patty Hedya, of Rebuilding the American City


    Matthew J. Kiefer practices real estate development and land use law at Goulston & Storrs and is a Lecturer in Real Estate at Harvard's Graduate School of Design.



    Tamara Roy, AIA, is a principal at Stantec specializing in residential, academic and mixed-use master planning projects, and an adjunct faculty member at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.



    David Lee, FAIA, NOMA, NCARB is the president and managing partner of award-winning architecture and urban design firm Stull and Lee, Inc. He has taught at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, RISD, and MIT.



    Daphne Politis, FAICP is the principal and founder of Community Circle. She is a trained facilitator and certified mediator with joint degrees in City Planning and Architectural Studies from MIT.



    Kathy McCabe, FAICP is the founder and principal of McCabe Enterprises, specialists in community engagement, economic development and strategic community master planning. She holds degrees from MIT and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
