The Town of Framingham Economic Development and Industrial Corporation (EDIC) seeks proposals for a consultant to work up to 20 hours per week with the Town staff on supporting the EDIC Committee and advancing economic development initiatives. The EDIC currently focuses on marketing the Town as an attractive location to work, live, play. The EDIC has developed and is undertaking a marketing plan, with the assistance of a public relations consulting firm. The plan has a multi-pronged approach, including a web site, www.chooseframingham.com<http://www.chooseframingham.com>, an electronic newsletter that is emailed to a contact list of almost 1,000, social media including facebook and twitter (@ChooseFram), and events. The EDIC also operates a number of smaller initiatives providing business intelligence, access to business networks, and small grants, including a pilot placemaking program. The ideal candidate will have proven economic development and project management expe
rience in a municipal setting. Marketing and/or sales skills are strongly desired. Knowledge of redevelopment authorities, planning principles, budgeting, public outreach and public meeting laws are all a plus. In performing this role, the selected consultant will get excellent exposure to the workings of a municipal planning office serving a diverse and dynamic community as well as experience marketing a unique "product." and building different audiences. This person will report to the Director of CED and work collaboratively with the CED Deputy Director, EDIC Chair, CED senior leadership as well as external stakeholders such as the Framingham Downtown Renaissance, the Metrowest Chamber of Commerce, and the Framingham Business Alliance.
