Economic Analysis of Industrial Zoning Districts, RFQ 19-43
The Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) acting through the Town Manager is requesting proposals from qualified individuals and firms for Consulting related to performing an economic analysis of the industrial zoning districts in the Town of Arlington. The project goals include positioning Arlington to attract new businesses and jobs in emerging growth industries to the Industrial District and creating opportunities through which Arlington can realize greater revenue with strategic amendments to the Zoning Bylaw and Zoning Map.

The Town of Wellesley Planning Department is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time (17.5 hours/week) Planner position. The Planning Department is responsible for various work related to the long-range and current planning of the Town, as well as the administration of zoning and land use regulations. Through this work, the staff of the Planning Department provides service directly to the Town’s Planning Board, Design Review Board, Historic District Commission, Historical Commission, and Denton Road Neighborhood District Commission, and works with various other Town boards on related work.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field or equivalent and the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. One year of experience in municipal planning or a related field or equivalent, and working knowledge of applicable laws pertaining to land use within a municipality are preferred. Knowledge of preservation tenets and practices. The ability to interact with the public and manage time effectively while prioritizing workflow are a must. The anticipated hiring range is $27.00 to $32.00 per hour and the position is not benefits eligible. The 495/MetroWest Partnership is seeking a Manager of Policy and Planning. The manager will be a team player reporting directly to the Partnership’s Executive Director, handling diverse responsibilities on planning and public policies addressing transportation and transit, regional infrastructure, economic development, workforce development, water resources, housing, and permitting.
The Manager will be responsible for analyzing public policies; developing consensus on positions and responses; preparing written materials and collateral pieces for these initiatives; serving as a resource for municipal officials, regional employers, development professionals, and environmental advocates; working with committees of volunteers; planning events and programs; identifying applicable grant programs and preparing applications; implementing strategies to increase the impact of Partnership’s message to the state and federal government, municipalities, regional employers, public, and other key stakeholders via social media, online messaging, and conventional media; and otherwise related duties as required.
Successful candidates will have excellent writing, communication, and public speaking skills; ability to work with diverse constituencies on issues; experience with a non-profit environment and/or working with volunteers; and academic or professional background on public policy and/or regional planning. Other requirements include a Bachelors Degree with graduate experience a plus; at least 5 years relevant professional experience with the Legislature, municipal or state government, regional planning, and/or advocacy organizations; strong computer skills with word processing, spreadsheet, powerpoint, and database programs as well as managing online resources and social media.
